Wikki Tourists stayed at the top of the table after playing out a 0-0 draw with Enugu Rangers in their top-of-the-table clash on Sunday.
Tourists came into the match after tasting a 2-0 defeat at Plateau United last weekend.
Abdul Maikaba and his boys could not break down a Rangers side who needed to avoid defeat to stay in the title race.
The league leaders face a difficult trip to bruised Warri Wolves next Sunday at the Warri City Stadium.
Nasarawa United 1-0 Rivers United
Nasarawa United maintained their push for a stay in the Nigeria Professional Football League as they beat visiting Rivers United 1-0 at the Aper Aku Stadium on Saturday.
With both teams locking horns with the aim of picking three maximum points, the hosts left no one in doubt that they were out for business.
Rivers United seeking to put pressure on leaders Wikki Tourists with 38 points and Nasarawa United aiming to shore up on its 29 points.
Both teams looked well squared until Abdulrahman Bashir scored in the second half.
Rivers United sought several opportunities to equalise but Nasarawa terminated many of their runs especially with their mastery of aerial balls.
At regulation time, the tally ended 1-0 in favour of the Solid Miners.
MFM FC 3-1 Ikorodu United
MFM FC returned to winning ways in the NPFL with a 3-1 victory over Ikorodu United in the Lagos Derby at the Agege Stadium.
The Olukoya Boys went into the game from the back of three straight defeats but they were tipped to beat the Oga Boys for the three points.
Fidelis Ilechukwu's wards took total control of the game and in the 13th minute Sikiru Olatunbosun broke the deadlock after benefiting from goalkeeper Segun Fatunwase's mistake.
Six minutes later, the Oga Boys were back in the game from the penalty spot when Fatai Abdullahi dispatched his effort to the net.
The hosts made it 2-1 through fearless striker Stephen Odey.
It was three goals to one at injury time thanks to Ifeanyi Ifeanyi's well taken penalty kick.
Abia Warriors 0-1 Plateau United
Abia Warriors suffered a shocking 1-0 defeat at home to Plateau United to leave them winless in three consecutive league games.
The Umuahia-based outfit were once again left frustrated with a performance which has raised more questions than answers.
Ibeh Johnson's strike in the 82nd minute separated the two sides at the Umuahia Township Stadium to incur feathers among Warriors' teeming fans.
For United's coach Zachary Baraje, it would be a sweeter victory for his side who climbed off the relegation zone to 16th spot.
Abia Warriors are in 13th position on the league table.
Enyimba FC 2-0 El-Kanemi Warriors
Enyimba FC moved into the top four at the expense of Kano Pillars thanks to a two-nil victory over El-Kanemi Warriors.
The home side took the lead in the 53rd minute when Joseph Osadiaye lifted the ball into the box and Nzube Anaezemba cushioned a header into the net past goalkeeper George Michael.
In the 69th minute, Enyimba doubled their lead when Ezekiel Bassey latched on to a through ball and fired a sweet strike to the back of the net.
Niger Tornadoes 2-0 Warri Wolves
Niger Tornadoes eased their relegation worries as goals from Kunle Isa and Mustapha Musa gave them a 2-0 win over Warri Wolves at the Lokoja Confluence Stadium.

Mustapha then wrapped up the win for Abubakar Bala's side when he headed  home from close range from Gabriel Wassa's sweet cross five minutes after the hour mark.
Akwa United 2-1 Kano Pillars
Akwa United welcomed Kano Pillars to the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in the Nigeria Professional Football League on Sunday.
Both sides had chances in the game, but a fantastic goal from debutant Amos Gyang saw Pillars in the lead after 55 minutes at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium.
Foreign import Kounnou Paterne made it 1-1 thirteen minutes from time to give the home side a glimmer hope of winning the game.
The Promise Keepers won it in the 87th minute through fit-again Yusuf Adio.
Lobi Stars 2-0 Heartland FC
Lobi Stars highlighted their continental credentials with a deserving 2-0 win over Heartland at the Aper Aku Stadium in the Nigeria Professional Football League on Sunday.
The Pride of Benue made a statement of intent early in the game when Anthony Okpotu converted his spot kick after Chinedu Efugh brought down Nanen Imenger in the box.
The hosts perpetuate their tirade on the Heartland goal-mouth in the second half and got their "insurance goal" through an own goal.
