Over to you Pep! ..... via@Sportsbywest3

Stats don't lie,  Kelechi Iheanacho for Manchester City:

- 18 starts
- 13 goals
- 5 assists.

Manchester City's Season so far has not been as awesome as it should be given the kind of Squad that they have, whilst also possesing arguably the best Manager in the world, Pep Guardiola.

Manchester City are in the top 4 in the Premier league, out of the EFL Cup, through to round of 16 in the UEFA champions League, and in contention for the FA cup, but I ask, is that as good as it should be? NO

The citizens failed to make it to the Quarter Final of the EFL Cup, they finished as runners up to Barcelona in the Champions league Group stage with just 9 points, while The Spanish Champions had 15 points, and the Citizens are currently third in the Premier league, losing To Chelsea at the Etihad by 3 goals to 1, definately, something is missing, or should I say SOMEONE IS MISSING.

So far, Pep Guardiola at Manchester city prefers to play one in the attack and the first choice striker has been Kun Sergio Aguero, a world class striker no doubt, a lethal finisher he is, but he does not have it all, he is injury prone and while trying to be fit In  this 2016/2017 season, Kun has shown his other side, Getting straight red cards and missing key matches.

The basic duty of a striker is to put the ball in the back of the net, but  as the whole world saw over the weekend against Chelsea, Aguero can't hide his dark side, the aftermath of his hard tackle on David Luiz was a straight red card and a 4 match ban due to the fact that he has now collected 2 red cards and some pundits argue that the ban should have been lengthier.

In the Premier league, December would always be a tough month for any club as there is no break,  where is your star player when you need him?

KELECHI TO THE RESCUE.

Squad depth is crucial here, Manchester city have got Nigerian teenage sensation KELECHI IHEANACHO who is a clinical finisher and a striker you can term a fox in the box. Kelechi took his chances during the first spell of Aguero's ban, scoring one and assisting one in the Manchester Derby and his finishing instinct is second to none.

PLAY THEM TOGETHER.

The best teams in the world right now play more than one in the attack, look at Barcelona for Example, they play three in the attack: Messi Suarez and Neymar, this has not only brought goals aplenty,  it has brought trophies too.

Nothing stops Pep from playing KELECHI and Aguero together as their style of play can complement each other, one is left footed, the other is right footed, not forgetting that KELECHI started out as a playmaker, he has the ability to feed the pass to another striker, this suits Aguero perfectly.

Manchester City would be a force to reckon with in Europe if Pep "frees" the attack as the KELECHI/Aguero partnership promises goals and assists aplenty and it looks like a huge potential.
Fernadinho, Gundogan and Fernando can provide the right cover in the middle of the park while De Bruyne, Aguero and IHEANCHO can lead the attack for Manchester city, and with other players like Sterling and Jesus Navas, Pep can certainly being more out of this Manchester city squad.

As the stats above suggest, 13 goals in 18 starts,  KELECHI does the job when he starts matches, so this kid does not only need to play, he needs to start more frequently, he took his chance on matchday 6 of the UEFA Champions league levelling matters for Manchester City Against Celtic with a great finish, a goal players like Van Persia, Di Maria and Lionel Messi would be proud of.
 OVER TO YOU PEP!

Gerrard or Lampard? Via @sportsbywest3

In football, there would always be discussions about who is the better player between 2 or more footballers based on the position they play, their style of play, personal achievements and team achievements.

From Pele vs Maradona, to Ronaldo Delima Vs Zidane, to Lionel Messi vs C.Ronaldo this debates have shaped football up to this moment and fans would argue with their last breathe based on bias , sentiments and statistics to make sure their favorite wins the argument at least in their own world.

Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard (36)  announced his retirement from professional football following an 18-year career in the game and while Liverpool fans have been praising their idol, rival fans while acknowledging that Gerrard is a great of the game,  have come out to say Frank Lampard was the better player.

The Gerrard-Lampard debate is  one that did not start today and the rivalry is one that is eternal, ,  but really who is the greater   Midfielder between the duo, Gerrard or Lampard?

Stats don't lie, both players have accomplished great things on the field of play:
Steven Gerrard Honours: includes two FA Cups, three League Cups, one UEFA Champions League, one UEFA Cup, and one UEFA Super Cup.

In 2005, Gerrard was honoured as the UEFA Club Footballer of the Year and won the Ballon d'Or Bronze Award. He has also been named in the PFA Team of the Year a record eight times, the UEFA Team of the Year and FIFA World XI three times, and was named PFA Players' Player of the Year in 2006 and the FWA Footballer of the Year in 2009. He is, to date, the only footballer ever to have scored a goal in an FA Cup Final, a League Cup Final, a UEFA Cup Final and a UEFA Champions League Final, also being on the winning team on each occasion

Gerrard played for Liverpool 504 times scoring 120 goals, assisting in 92 & represented England 114 times & netting 21 goals.

Frank Lampard honours: he was a key part of the Chelsea  sides which won back-to-back Premier League titles in 2004–05 and 2005–06 and a domestic cup double in 2007.

He won a second FA Cup winners' medal in 2009, scoring the winning goal in the final. In the 2009–10 season, Lampard helped Chelsea secure their first league and FA Cup Double, and also had his most prolific season with the club, scoring 22 league goals and 17 league assists. In 2012, Lampard captained Chelsea to their first UEFA Champions League success and a year later to their first UEFA Europa League title.
Lampard is Chelsea's all-time top goalscorer with 211 goals in all competitions. Lampard is one of seven players, and the only midfielder, to have scored 150 or more goals in the Premier League. He is second in the Premier League's all-time assists table, behind Ryan Giggs.

 THE LAMPARD SUPERIORITY.
One important trophy missing in Gerrard's cabinet is the Premier league trophy which Lampard has won on more than one occasion.

The Gerrard superiority was the UCL trophy in his cabinet and Liverpool fans used this as a bragging right over Chelsea in general until Frank lampard captained Chelsea to win the UEFA Champions League in 2012.
Frank Lampard made it to the top 3 of the FIFA best player of the year award in 2005 finishing 2nd to Ronaldinho while Gerrard has never made it to the top 3.

In truth, Lampard over Gerrard in terms of total goals and assists and in terms of trophies won, while most people just prefer Gerrard because of his personality and charisma.

 THE GERRARD  SUPERIORITY.
Gerrard could play in a variety of positions, as a DMF Central Midfielder or as an attacking midfielder of even as the perfect supporting striker,  he coul pass the ball effectively, win tackles for his team, and his distribution rate was very high- VERSATILTY.

To buttress that point, here is what Henry had to say about Gerrrad:
"I had the chance to play with so many great players and saw so many in this league. Alongside Paul Scholes, he is the player I would have like to have played with.

"He could do anything well, whether it was a nice tackle or assist, everything was done well. The quality that he had was at the time, especially in Europe, underrated-
Thierry Henry on Steven Gerrard.

Lampard at his prime functioned effectively as an attacking midfielder majorly.
in all, they are two great players that gave football their all,  Lampard has more  career goals and assists, Steven Gerrard will go down as probably the greatest player never to win the Premier league, but he represents the perfect role model,  football will never see any player like Gerrard or Lampard again, Steven Gerrard we love, Frank Lampard the better player.

PEP WANTS THE BEST FOR YAYA TOURE....via@sportsbywest3

In football, when a Coach is newly appointed to take charge of a team, freedom to select players at his own volition could be a big deciding factor for the club to achieve relative success under the Management of the Coach.

When it was announced that Pep Guardiola would take over from Manuel Pellegrini as the head coach of Manchester City going into the 2016/2017 season, one player that the announcement  gave an unrest was Yaya Toure, and the reasons are not far-fetched, the pair worked together for a while at Barcelona and During the early stages of the 2008–09 season,  the then newly appointed Manager Pep Guardiola favoured Sergio Busquets in the defensive role of Barcelona's midfield trio with Pep sanctioning the Sale of Yaya Toure to Manchester  City in 2010.

Pep Guardiola has changed a whole lot of things since assuming  duty as the Manchester City coach with key big players like Samir Nasri and Joe Hart going out on loan and Yaya Toure not included in his champions league plans at all.
With Yaya Toure unable to get a transfer to another team, it was clear that the Ivorian would be stuck at Manchester City and would have to do a whole lot of talking on the pitch to convince the manager but he never got the chance to play matches for Manchester city when the season started and his outspoken agent, Dimitri Seluk added fuel to a bad situation by engaging in war of words with Guardiola, accusing  Pep of being disrespectful for leaving The Ivorian out of his champions league squad but really, was pep disrespectful?

Without an iota of doubt, Yaya Toure has been a key figure for Manchester City and their success story in England cannot be spoken about without making mention of the impact of a certain Yaya Toure. From Mancini to Manuel Pellegrini, Yaya Toure enjoyed playing for Manchester city and scored a lot of goals in the process.

In truth, no matter how good a player appears to be, not every coach can like the player and his style of play,  it is audible to the deaf and visible to the blind that Pep Guardiola is a master Tactitian that has been successful in Spain and Germany and his decisions should be respected.

Results at the beginning of the season proved Pep Guardiola right as a coach with Manchester city getting wins here and there including a Derby away win over Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Out of the blue,  When it appeared as if everyone has forgotten about Yaya Toure,  just after the international break,  Pep brought him back to the starting line up for Manchester City in the Premier League against Crystal Palace- TIMELINESS OF DECISION,  away from home and Yaya Toure delivered scoring two goals that proved decisive as the citizens won the match 2-1.
Pep has streched Yaya Toure mentally and has sent out a signal to other players that there is no room for complacency as anyone can be benched.
The other key message Pep has sent out with this scenario is that no player is bigger than the club, as Toure only got to play for the Citizens after issuing a public appology. Toure said sorry  for his agent Dimitri Seluk's attacks on Guardiola for axing the Ivory Coast star from his Champions League squad.

Guardiola demanded Toure apologise before he would consider picking him again and was pleased by his statement.

That is what a big coach does, a big coach calls the right decisions at the right times, MENTAL STRETCHING is needed for players  especially when it appears as if they have achieved it all and done it all because for Toure, he could have taken the easy way out by leaving the club.

with Toure hitting top form immediately, it is Crystal clear that PEP ONLY WANTS THE BEST FOR YAYA TOURE, not forgetting that Manchester City's Champions League squad can be altered in January and Toure can be involved in the later stages of European club premium competition, it's not over until it's over.

Sportsbywest sure weekend predictions via @sportsbywest3

Sunderland 0 Arsenal 2: backing Arsenal to return to winning ways in the PL, Ozil and Alexis well rested for this game as they did not play in the EFL cup, Sunderland bundled out of the EFL cup by Southapmton, should be another woeful performance from the black cats.

Manchester united 2 Burnley 0: buoyed by the win over Manchester city in the EFL cup midweek, Manchester United should be able to get all 3 points against Burnley. Manchester united would make it right at the back and you know Jose too well, get a goal or 2 and seat on it.

Middlesbrough 1 Bournemouth 1: not much on this fixture, Bournemouth the better side of late, middesbrough were unfortunate not to pick up all 3 points against Arsenal last time out, two sides that would try to play all out attacking football, it's either here nor there.

Tottenham 1 Leicester city 1: Spurs have one of the meanest defence I  the league, they don't give too many goals away and without Harry Kane, they don't score much. Leicester city getting better as they play more matches, so I settle for a draw.

Watford 2 hull city 0: Hull city getting beat by almost everyone and they conceede a lot in the PL, hard to see them keeping a clean sheet in this match, Ighalo should return For Watford and backing Troy Deeney to score his 100th goal for Watford.

West brom 1 Manchester city 2: 6 matches without a win foe Manchester city, a bad record for pep Guardiola a win is a must for him, should use his full strength squad but you can expect early substitutions when they are leading by 2 goals to nil so they can have fresh legs for the UCL fixture against Barcelona.  West brom have nothing against the citizens.

Crystal palace 1 Liverpool 2: Benteke returns , he has flourished at palace since leaving, backing him to score against his former side but Liverpool to come out tops, Liverpool a well rested side after klopp gave most of his big players midweek for the EFL CUP.

Everton 1 west ham 2: west ham on a roll now, they have gotten their acts together, they got a big win midweek against chelsea, back them to do something big against a good Everton side as well.

Southampton 1 Chelsea 2: Southampton has got a mean defence, Chelsea was exposed midweek against West Ham but then, it could be because they are putting more focus on the League, the big pkayers will surely start this one, a key fixture this would be in the PL, Southampton got a massive draw against Manchester city last week and bundled Sunderland out of the EFL cup, they are in good form also.

Stoke city 2 Swansea 0:

stoke city doing fine, Swansea not better off, Swansea looks like they getting together and understanding the tactics of the new coach, but to get all 3 points would be a big ask and a draw will feel like 3 points for them!

Augsburg 1 Bayern Munich 3:

Wolfsburg 1 Bayer leverkusen 2

Borussia Dortmund 2 schalke 04 1

Juventus 2 Napoli 1: big match, big teams, goal goal for both teams, Juventus should win.

Alaves 1 real Madrid 3: BBC well rested, real Madrid spanked their last opponents 7-1 without the well rested bale Benzema and Cristiano, the trio should return for this fixture and do wonders.

Barcelona 3 grananda 0: MSN to roast Granada, no doubts about that.

A.c. Milan 2 pescara 0

Empoli 1 Roma 2

Lille 1 PSG 2

*danger teams: beware of Arsenal, they played a 0-0  against Middlesbrough  last week in the PL, they struggle to break down small teams, they stuggled with Burnley as well.

PsG: on a good day, PSG should beat lille and your over 2.5 should enter, but then, at Times, they can fumble, so one can go for over 1.5 and I never trust Friday fixtures.

Sportsbywest predictions for the weekend..... via@sportsbywest3

Sportsbywest predictions for the weekend:

Bournemouth 1 Tottenham Hotspur 2: that Bournemouth hit hull city for 6 last weekend does not mean that would find spurs easy, the London side have been tight at the back, so this match could end up as a low scoring affair, backing spurs to get back to winning ways though.

Arsenal 3 Middlesbrough 0: Arsenal are joint table toppers for a reason, and with Alexis, Walcott and ozil all in fine form, I don't see any way Middlesbrough would escape this match without losing, should be a straight win for Arsenal.

Burnley 1  Everton 2; Burnley not it at all this season, Everton definitely better, another match that could end up as a low scoring affair, but you can expect lukaku to turn up for Everton.

Hull city 0 stoke city 1: Stoke City have 4 points from a possible 6 in their last two matches, they are starting to get themselves together as inspired by joe Allen, hull city should not trouble them.

Leicester city 2 crystal palace 1: the defending champions will be buoyed by another win in the UCL, that should be a boost against a benteke-inspired Crystal palace.

Swansea city 1 Watford 1: swansea gave Arsenal a lot of problems in their last PL fixture, Watford for a win in theirs, but it was a close match, so backing this match to end in a draw.

West ham United 1 Sunderland 0;

west ham to defeat struggling Sunderland, I see no way out for the black cats in London.

Liverpool 2 west brom 1:

Liverpool felt restricted against Manchester United in their last PL match, against west brom, they should do better and attack better, and get a win.

Manchester city 2 Southampton 1:

4 matches without a win for Manchester city, Southampton would be looking to compound their woes, but then, they do not have enough to get all 3 points against Manchester city, who would be looking to bounce back from a disastrous outing in the UCL, backing guardiola's side to return ro winning ways.

Chelsea 1 Manchester United 1:

Jose Mourinho sets his side out to defend away from home against the big teams, we saw it against Liverpool, but then, this is not a 0-0 fixture.

Sevilla 1 at Madrid 2; sevilla on a good run, so also at Madrid, so when two sides on a good run meets who wins? I go for the team with the better attacking prowress and that is at Madrid, they should get all 3 points away from home.

Real Madrid 3 athletic club 1: Madrid doing just fine, Ronaldo doing just fine, getting goals and assists, alongside  bale and Benzema, Madrid have no problems, they should get all 3 points.

Valencia 1 Barcelona 4: Messi, messi,  messi, what more can I say? You saw what they did to Manchester city in the UCL, that fine run should continue.

Bayern Munich 3 borussia m'gladbach 1:

Bayern Munich finally got a win, they are back in style, this should be another win for them with lewandowski and Miller scoring for them in the UCL, they would do just fine.

A.C. Milan 1 juventus 2: Dybala, Higuain, a good attacking force, got a slim win in the UCL against Lyon, they should get another slim win against A.c. Milan.

PSG 3.  Marseille 1: how many teams can stop PSG on their day in the French league? Not many, another win for them.

Players you can back to score anytime this weekend: Lionel Messi, Cavani, Alexis, Walcott, Hazard, Alli, Muller, Higuain, Ronaldo.

Players you can back to get assist this weekend: Payet, Ozil, Erikssen, Ronaldo, messi and di maria

Monday 17 October 2016

UCL MATCHDAY 3 SUREST PREDICTIONS.....VIA @sportsbywest3

Bayer leverkusen 2 Tottenham 1: spurs should struggle against a Javier Hernandez inspired leverkusen, spurs looked tired in their last match, so backing the German side to get the win at home.

Club Brugge 1 Porto 2

CSKA Moscow 1 Monaco 1

Dinamo Zagreb 0 sevilla 2

Leicester city 2 kobenhavn 1

Olympique Lyon 1 juventus 2

Real Madrid 5 legia warzawa 0: Ronaldo is on form, real Madrid but 6 past real betis over the weekend, what more can i say?

Sporting CP 2 borussia Dortmund 2

Arsenal 3 ludogorets 0; with Theo Walcott and Alexis hitting top form in recent matches, easy win for arsenal

Barcelona 3 man city 1; city winless in their last 3 matches, messi is back with a bang and he scored over the weekend, MSN to deal with the citizens, would be a bad return for Pep guardiola.

Bayern Munich 2 PSV 1; this would be tough for bayern Munich, but they should hit adequate form to get all 3 points.

Celtic 2 borussia m'gladbach 1: Celtic good at home, ask Manchester city, 3 points for Celtic.

Dynamo Kyiv 1 Benfica 2

Napoli 3 beskitas 1

PSG 4 Basel 0: should be a straightforward win for PSG

Rostov 0 atletico Madrid 4: this Madrid went crazy in their last la liga encounter, carrasco was in fire, backing them to get all 3 points and a big win.

Bank on: anybody to score by half time in the match that involves: Barcelona, real Madrid, at Madrid and bayern Munich.
