BUHARI FULFILS AGE-LONG PROMISE......via@sportsbywest3

THE PRESIDENT OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA, BUHARI in his second time coming as the number citizen of Nigeria has fulfilled   his age long promise of cash reward to the victorious u-17 members of the 1985 set, with 2 million naira each, while the coaches got 1.5 million naira each.   

  

 As the head of state, Buhari had pledged cash rewards for the sportsmen who did Nigeria proud, the golden eaglets but a coup in the military setting did not allow him to fulfil the promise at the time, but as fate will have it, fast forward to 2016, and as president of the federal republic of Nigeria, he has fulfilled his pledge.  ALSO rewarded on Thursday January 21st 2016 was the golden eaglets set of 2015, who got 1.2 million naira each while amuneke got 900,000 and his assistants got 600, 000 naira each.

  Samson Siasia's dream team that won the Africa u-23 cup of nations each got half a million naira and siasia himself also got 500,000 naira. 
World scrabble champion, Wellington Jighere, got N1.5m, while his coach got N1.2m.

D'Tigers, who won Nigeria's first Afrobasket title in Tunisia and qualified for the Olympics men's basketball event, got N600,000 each, with their coach getting 600,000 naira.

2015 was clearly a great year for Nigerian sports, and with presidential recognition like this for the sports men and coaches of different sports, other Nigerians will look forward to doing the nation proud in the world of sports especially with the Olympics fast approaching. we are hoping that team Nigeria will have a great outing in all the sports they will partake in at the Olympics in brazil.
