IT was a day with destiny for English man Wayne Rooney as his goal  in the 78th minute gave Manchester united a crucial victory over Liverpool at Anfield in the first fixture on a super Sunday in the EPL, a match which saw Liverpool having all the possession and more shots on target. I tell you, in soccer, its only the full time results that counts, and the day belongs to LVG's Manchester United.

Manchester united will have De Gea to thank for keeping them in the match though, making key saves to thwart Liverpool.  United's goal came after fellaini's header crashed against the post and Wayne Rooney, in a goal rich form followed up with a smash.

one could be forgiven to have expected a high scoring result given that both teams played a 3-3 draw in their various matches during the midweek, as Manchester united played out a 3-3 draw against Newcastle united on Tuesday, while Liverpool played out a 3-3 draw with arsenal on Wednesday,

The other fixture completing the super Sunday was between Stoke city and Arsenal.

This is a match most arsenal fans dread a lot at the Britannia stadium, a place where Arsenal has only won once in the last seven years. Their fears increased the more when the team news was announced, and there was no Mesut Ozil, provider of 16 assists for Arsenal, and Alexis Sanchez could not make the trip.

but then, they had another key man signed from rival club Chelsea, whom john terry had earlier said could save them up to 12-15 points a season, PETER CECH.

 

 

 

 

The goal keeper put in a man of the match display to deny stoke city in both halfs and has proven himself to be very important for this Arsenal side as they want to challenge for the league title.

 

jack butland proved why he is the goal keeper with the most saves in the EPL this season by denying arsenal some chances especially the big save he made against Giroud in the first half.

 

overall, super Sunday in the EPL may not have brought in the goals as expected, but the entertainment and drama was there as ever, and goalkeepers like: De Gea, Cech and Butland were the important players for their clubs, while both Fellaini and Wayne Rooney were outstanding for Manchester united. Arsenal returned to the top of the log, while united are now 5th.
