I AM READY FOR THE AUSTRALIAN OPEN......via@sportsbywest3

RED-HOT favorite to win the first grand slam of the calendar year 2016, and the current defending champion of the women's Australian open, and world number one, American SERENA WILLIAMS has come out to say that she is ready to defend the trophy which she won last year the Australian open, despite her lack of match practice, and injury scare.
After a very successful year 2015 in which she came so close to winning all 4 grand slams(wiining three out of a possible 4, only the US open slipped from her hands) she will be hoping to do that again in 2016 and even go one better this year by winning all 4 grand slam titles, the Australian open, the French open, the US open and Wimbledon, she could also add the Olympics(yet again) gold medal to her trophy laden cabinet.
RECALL THAT

Serena Williams attempted a comeback at this month's Hopman Cup in Perth but retired with soreness in her left knee.

But the 21-time Grand Slam champion, who also battled knee problems in the latter half of 2015, insists she is "ready to go" at the Melbourne Park tournament starting Monday, 18th January 2016.
"My body is feeling great now," she said this week. "Obviously I had a hiccup but right now it is doing much better. I've had a few days of training so it's looking good."
"I know what I need to do on and off the court to win big tournaments."
she is not the only one struggling with injury problems, as other top ranked women's tennis players like
World No 2 Simona Halep (Achilles), Garbine Muguruza (foot), Agnieszka Radwanska (leg) and Maria Sharapova (forearm) have all been battling niggling problems that forced them out of warm-up tournaments. others like
The world numbers six and seven, Petra Kvitova and Angelique Kerber, have recently had injury problems, and this could pave way for other youngstars and newbies who are not well known, to win the Australian open.
